Banned and challenged book awareness event

Who said that is not suitable material to read?

October 3, 2017

On Wednesday Oct. 11, Student Life member, Nate Devish is hosting a Banned and Challenged Book Awareness event in the Rainier building. It is a scaled-down version of the week-long event put on by the American Library Association.

Kick-off starts at 10:00 a.m. with a discussion of why and how books are challenged, then banned. A sampling of books that ended up on the banned list will be on display, including current ones.

At 11:00 guests are encouraged to move in to the Science Dome. An interactive presentation highlighting book covers will be shown on screen while a reading from a banned book will take place in front.

Cookies and drink will be provided.
